Our Mission

The mission of Camp Blue Skies Foundation is to offer camps to adults with developmental disabilities, enhancing their lives through recreation, socialization and life skills education. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity.

Our Team

Camp Blue Skies is fortunate to have a team of qualified part-time staff and volunteers who work year round to make every session a success.

Rebecca Hilinski, Assistant Camp Director. Rebecca comes to us with nonprofit management and Camp/Foundation Board experience. She is responsible for managing the foundation’s database of donors, campers and volunteers in addition to online communications, donor relations, camp policies and procedures, and the camper enrollment process.

Liz Rumbaugh, Program Director. Liz’s experience includes being a Wilderness Therapy Guide. She currently conducts Applied Behavioral Analysis sessions and social skills classes with clients with Autism. Liz is responsible for developing and implementing all programming at Camp Blue Skies, including coordinating with host camp staff and developing the curriculum for Life Skills activities.

Alison Barry, Volunteer Director. Her past work experience with developmentally disabled adults includes being a Job Coach at Goodwill Industries and serving as the Institutional Liaison for Mecklenburg County. She is responsible for recruiting and training Camp Blue Skies volunteers that support our campers throughout the session.

Kit Sluder, Director of Health Services and and Camper Recruitment. Kit’s working background is in critical care and disaster relief and she has years of nonprofit and camp nurse experience as well. She is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all Health Center practices including recruiting and training the medical staff for each camp.

Amy Millikan, Development Director. Amy comes with years of experience fundraising for nonprofit organizations in the Charlotte area. Amy is responsible for writing grants, planning fundraising events, and managing donor relations.

Crystal Dempsey, Communications Director. Crystal is a former journalist who owns a PR/marketing company. She is responsible for external communications including public relations, marketing materials, website, social media and email marketing.
