Hooked On Camp
Fishing Derby 2019
The 2019 Hooked on Camp Fishing Derby, an annual fundraiser for Camp Blue Skies, kicks off our 10th year of offering camps for adults with developmental disabilities.
Anglers will have the exclusive opportunity to fish on Lake Broyhill, a pristine 140-acre lake teeming with largemouth bass and bream.
Lake Broyhill is part of YMCA Camp Harrison, the North Carolina home of our 5-day, 4-night camps that enhance the lives of adults with developmental disabilities through recreation, socialization and life skills education.
All proceeds provide financial assistance for campers by bridging the gap between the camper fee and the true cost per camper.
Camp Blue Skies can accommodate 65 campers at each session. This year's derby goal is $25,000 to help cover expenses for about 31 campers.
Fee: $2,000 per boat or $1,000 per angler ($900 per person is tax deductible).
Limited to 20 anglers. Ten experienced guides donate their time, boat, gas, and tackle.
Arrive in the afternoon and get a start on fishing from the shore if you like.
Enjoy a tailgate-style dinner by the lake and stay overnight in a cabin.
Sunrise breakfast and derby overview.
8 a.m. shotgun start and fish until noon.
BBQ lunch and awards such as “Largest Largemouth Bass," “Largest Bluegill,” “Most Fish Caught by a Team,” and “Smallest Fish.”
