Camp Blue Skies is looking for gently used costumes and props for its adult campers and volunteers to use during the Variety Show at upcoming sessions in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
The drop-off is Wednesday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at TowneBank (formerly Paragon), 6337 Morrison Blvd., near SouthPark mall.
Items that will be accepted: Costumes and props such as wigs, hats, clothing, etc.
Camp Blue Skies, founded in 2009, provides camps for adults age 21 and up who have developmental disabilities. Activities that encourage socialization, recreation and life skills education become limited for this population as they age out of the traditional school system.
The Variety Show, a popular evening activity, allows campers and volunteers to showcase their talents through music, dance, improv, and skits. “The costumes and the props, especially with the skits, inspire campers and volunteers to get creative with telling a story,” said Dick Sesler, founder of the Charlotte-based nonprofit. “The wear-and-tear of 10 years of camps is showing on what we have. We’re grateful to TowneBank for hosting this drop-off.”
Camp Blue Skies team members will accept costume and prop donations in the board room adjacent to TowneBank’s lobby. Parking is free.
