Welcome Amy Millikan ~ Camp Blue Skies' New Development Director!

We are excited to welcome Amy Millikan to our Camp Blue Skies team.  Here is her bio and how she came into our family. With Amy working her Development magic, we believe Camp Blue Skies will continue to grow for many years to come. How did we find Amy?

Dick (our Founder) met Amy through Shana Plott, who helped us initially with fundraising and has continued to help behind the scenes with computer projects (thank you Shana!).  Dick met Shana through Kathi Knier who is the Development Director for InReach (a nonprofit organization that provides residential and community supports and services for children and adults with developmental and other disabilities in residential and community settings). InReach sends many campers to our North Carolina Camp. In the end, thanks to these great wonderful women and their involvement with our camper community, we found Amy!

Amy's Bio:

In mid-August 2011, Amy returned to Charlotte Country Day School (CCDS) to serve as the Interim Director of the Annual Fund.  Amy was the Director of the Annual Fund at Country Day from August 2001 to October 2004.  She was directly responsible for overseeing the annual campaign by identifying and engaging prospective donors, conducting mail solicitations, managing 8 different constituency groups, and supervising over 75 volunteers.  Prior to working at CCDS, Amy was Area Director for the American Heart Association (AHA) in Winston-Salem and Charlotte.  Over the course of 7 years with the organization she oversaw fundraising and special events for the AHA’s national programs Jump Rope for Heart, American Heart Walk and the Charlotte Heart Ball.  Her responsibilities included sponsorship, marketing, logistics, auctions and managing over 60 volunteers to meet the goals.  After graduating from Salem College in 1990, Amy was an Admissions Counselor and Assistant Director of Admissions at Salem.  She traveled the east coast recruiting students, as well as planning on-campus visitations and overseeing the Admissions student ambassador group. Amy has been in Charlotte 14 years. She is married to Bill, who owns a commercial construction business.  They have two children, Will seven years old and Mary Cass four and half.

So there you have it! Our team is complete. Stay tuned for fun ways we will be raising funds and awareness of our camp with Amy’s wisdom and guidance.
